Highly Commended Award in the Travel category
TIn 2024, Katarina received a Highly Commended Award in the Travel category in the Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2024 competition, presented by Fujifilm.
The entry was titled ‘Jeta mbi uje’ and explored life by the water in the cities of Pogradec and Permet, Albania.

Tea in a Warzone
In July 2022, Katarina travelled to Basur, Kurdish Iraq as part of a freelance documentary team for Merja Media.

India
In 2016, Katarina hosted an exhibition at the Addison Road Centre, Sydney presenting images of her time in India. The show was a great success, with all images selling out.

Yuin Bushfires
The 2019/2020 bushfires were symbolic of the new normal for Australia, as our changing climate continues to be ignored whilst also existing as a reminder that growth from destruction is still possible. For these images Katarina was chosen as the first winner of UNSW's Social Sciences photo competition. They were then published in Politik, UNSW's International Affairs Review.

Top Ten Australian Photographer of the Year
In 2023, Katarina was awarded by the ‘Australian Photography’ magazine as one of the top 10 Australian photographers of the year in the travel categories for her images taken in Basur, Kurdish Iraq.

Holidaying with the PKK
In 2023, the Kurdish Centre for Studies published an article written by Katarina on the need to reconsider the branding of the PKK as a terrorist organisation.

Himalayan Sisters
In 2017, Katarina returned to Nepal for a second time to reconnect with the women she met whilst filming the documentary Himalayan Sisters (2012). These images capture life in rural Nepal and celebrate the special bonds between herself and her Nepali sisters.
